Lose weight with e cigs?

lose weight with e-cigs

It’s old information that nicotine is an appetite suppressant, well if you didn’t know already – it is! It helps us lose weight. Scientists believe that nicotine stimulates part of the brain that controls appetite, so when nicotine is ingested you eat less, fact! Nicotine decreases appetite by activating the POMC neurons in the brain.

With scientific proof that nicotine helps keep the pounds off it is no wonder that millions of tobacco smokers smoke to lose weight and stay thin. The only, rather large drawback, is that tobacco smoke is harmful in many other ways and contains lots of nasty carcinogens. Smoking tobacco is bad for your health everyone knows that. Anti tobacco smoking advertising campaigns have been running for years and the health impact of cigarette smoke is common knowledge.

Does nicotine cause weight loss?

Does nicotine cause weight loss? Yes, indirectly nicotine causes weight loss. Nicotine suppresses the appetite and reduces craving for sugary foods by lowering insulin levels. It does not mean that it will have an immediate effect, will power and controlled calorie intake are also required. Nicotine however can be an aid to loosing weight, nicotine is a stimulant and is not a known carcinogen.

Loosing weight with juul vapes or e-cigs

Electronic smoking is proving to be substantially less harmful to your health, compared to tobacco. So why aren’t more people using it as an aid to lose weight? E-juice – the stuff you vaporize that contains the nicotine when electronically smoking – comes in a wide range of flavors and generally tastes quite nice.

In contrast, tobacco smoke tastes bad and makes you and your breath stink! Not to mention the lingering stench left behind on your clothes. This smell can stink out your car or a whole house and is very difficult to get rid of. This doesn’t happen when smoking an e-cig, the vapor or aerosol that is inhaled and exhaled is almost odorless. The range of fruity flavors and menthol blends in fact smell quite pleasant, especially compared to tobacco smoke.

There are many vaporizers to choose from such as Juul, Blu, V2 and E-lites but are they safe? Well current studies suggest that vaporizing is significantly safer than smoking cigarettes. Which is great so if you can loose weight with products like Juul and Blu why not use them as a tool to do so?

If we are to believe that e-smoking has very little effect on our health, why are more people not using e-cigs to lose weight? Why are people still smoking tobacco?

Quitting tobacco with e-cigs

Quitting tobacco with e-cigs is easy! I stopped smoking tobacco the day I got my first e-cig kit and I feel great! My fitness has improved with exercise and my skin complexion has recovered from a dull grayish tone, attributed to tobacco smoke.

loose weight nicotine

ciggy packs

With a little will power and the e-cig almost constantly glued to my lip I quit smoking tobacco but a side effect that I noticed was, that I found it almost impossible to gain weight. My appetite was the same as when I smoked tobacco but if anything I’ve lost a few more pounds since smoking e-cigs.

More nicotine in e-cigs=weight loss?

Something I have noticed and it’s quite obvious is the amount that I smoke has increased dramatically. The e-cig is always there ready to suck on, the slightest nicotine craving and I am there puffing away. Sometimes I even use the menthol flavored liquid to freshen my breath without any desire for nicotine. So all this extra nicotine I am consuming is effecting my weight and seeing me lose the pounds.

I am slightly worried though as an adult man I don’t particularly want to be skinny but my nicotine addiction is causing me to be. I really don’t think that I have the will power to stop smoking all together and this bothers me. Well, what if you are over weight could electronic smoking be the answer to helping you lose the pounds in an easy safe way?

Appetite suppressant e liquid

E-liquid contains nicotine, nicotine can help suppress a persons appetite. Vape pen for weight loss is a known fact as vape pens vaporize e-liquid, which in turn contains nicotine. So can e-cigarettes help you loose weight ? The short answer is yes! The details have been outlined else where in this article.

Does vaping make you hungry ?

No! Vaping should do the exact opposite, the nicotine in the e-liquid should suppress your appetite, unless you have some strange metabolism that reverses the affect of nicotine. The more nicotine you vape the lower the cravings for food will become. Nicotine is a stimulant and not a known carcinogen, it also has no other known health side effects. So it should be safe to use as a slimming aid. Slimming vapor or skinny vapor is available to buy and is marketed as an aid to weight loss.

Start vaping, probably like me you will find it very hard to put the e-cig down. This will mean the amount of nicotine you consume will continue suppressing your appetite and help you lose weight.

Couple this with a decent fitness regime and a healthy, balanced diet, you will see the pounds fall off. Electronic smoking will help you lose weight. The nicotine reduces your appetite- This much we know but the long-term health impact of e-smoking is unknown. Early research suggests e-smoking is safe compared to tobacco smoking. Figures put out there say 95% healthier. Although more intensive long-term research needs to be carried out to prove its safety.

Obviously any information in this post is my own opinion, although there is scientific evidence to back it up. Nicotine suppresses your appetite, fact! If you eat less you should lose weight-common sense. We are told that vaping has little effect on ones health- multiple sources! Vaping should help you lose weight, it’s less harmful than taking illegal drugs such as speed or vomiting after food.

Gaining weight after quitting smoking ecig

Gaining weight after quitting smoking can be a problem for tobacco smokers and vapors alike. The trouble is when you quit smoking, vaping or using an ecig your body no longer has access to nicotine. Nicotine helps you keep your weight under control by suppressing your appetite and reducing insulin levels.

If you have quit ecigs or tobacco you could try using nicotine gum as an aid to keeping your weight under control.

E-liquid on skin is it bad?

E-liquid on skin

Getting e-liquid on skin is not as harmful as swallowing it, in the short term anyway. No extensive research has been done into the long term effect of e-liquid skin exposure. The skin is the semi permeable covering of vertebrates. Humans are vertebrates and our skin is semi permeable, this allows for osmosis to occur and some chemicals can penetrate. If e-liquid is left on the skin for too long the nicotine can seep through the skin and into the bloodstream, this having a harmful effect on our health and possibly even causing death.

E-liquid generally contains 3 main ingredients: propylene glycol, glycerol and nicotine. The most dangerous (or at least toxic) of the 3 is nicotine, which can kill almost instantaneously if too much is ingested. Propylene glycol is a synthetic product obtained from the hydration of propylene oxide, which is derived from petroleum. So should we be smoking a product that essentially comes from oil? And should we be worried about getting it on our skin?

There are arguments for propylene glycol use and against propylene glycol use, some labeling it as a toxic chemical and some like the FDA labeling it safe to be used in foods and other products. So I guess you will have to make your own mind up and see in ten years time.

The third ingredient – glycerol – is a simple polyol sugar alcohol compound which is deemed safe.

What do I do when I get e-liquid on skin?

The best thing to do when you get e-liquid on skin is quickly wipe it off and wash your hands. Most safety advice issued by e-juice manufacturers advises you to wash it off thoroughly and wash any clothes that came into contact with the juice. On most e-liquid bottles it is labelled as an irritant and may cause skin conditions, but I guess it depends on how sensitive your skin is. If you get e-liquid on skin get it off as quickly as possible!

What do I do if I get e-liquid in my eye?

If you get a small amount of e-liquid in your eye it is best to try and wash it out with water. Try not to rub it as it may cause deeper penetration and have a more harmful effect. If you get a lot in your eye then you should seek medical advice. Especially if you have any of the following symptoms: nausea, headaches, blurred vision, involuntary twitches, heart palpitations or vomiting. There are different levels of nicotine poisoning depending on how much has been ingested. This  depends on e-liquid strength versus the amount consumed.

How to prevent e-liquid on skin

Safety is key when using any dangerous substances! Follow these simple set of guidelines when refilling your vaporizer. If you are prepared you should not have any problems or come into any harm when vaping.

  • Always use protective gloves when re-filling you vaping device.
  • Wear protective goggles to stop e-liquid getting into your eyes.
  • Always refill your vaporizer in a well lit area, it helps if you can see what you are doing!
  • Always make sure you put the e-liquid bottle cap back on correctly so nothing spills.
  • Remember to securely tighten all the components of the vaporizer back together after refilling it. If the vaporizers not screwed up tight you can get e-liquid on skin, in eye or even swallow some juice.
  • Always remember to refill out of sight and away from children. Keep all e-smoking paraphernalia locked up and in a safe secure place.

V-med stimulants F.I.F.A concerns

v-med stimulants used to cheat at sports

V-med stimulants are causing F.I.F.A and other sports governing bodies major concern. Some players are gambling their careers to use banned substances that enhance a player’s game. These stimulants include Nandrolone and  Danazol. Drugs are generally injected or ingested but more recently they are being administered through vaporizers. In the form of v-med stimulants.

This new administration technique is concerning drugs testing officials as vaporized meds or v-meds are new and largely uncharted way of cheating in sporting events. The new way of administering drugs in a vaporized form is quick and discreet. Athletes are now able to vape a small, targeted dose of stimulant that improves performance and is almost impossible to detect.

A quote from a football player that wished to remain anonymous,

I have seen players using vaporizers in changing rooms before the match and at half time. I thought they were using it to quit smoking tobacco though. It’s shocking to think that they might be taking drugs to enhance their performance.

With improved nano mist and vaporizing technology, performance enhancing drugs are used by athletes to cheat by giving them more stamina and a general physical edge over their opponents. Nano mist can be taken after initial urine samples have been given and administered in less than 5 seconds. The inhaled stimulant is then sweated out before the end of the game, allowing the user to bypass current testing measures. Hence this new form of doping is almost undetectable.

Cheating using performance enhancing drugs has plagued sports governing bodies for decades, Lance Armstrong in cycling and Asafa Powell in athletics are two who have risked their careers by taking banned stimulants to improve their performance. Both of these men were caught and stripped of their respective titles after failing drug tests. Technology is evolving though and scientists are developing new drugs and administration techniques with the aim of making it harder to trace and detect drugs cheats. This is why F.I.F.A and other sports governing bodies are so concerned with v-med stimulants.

So what measures are we going to see to ensure there is no foul play, regarding cheating with v-med stimulants? At present there are no measures in place to deal with v-med stimulants cheating specifically. The testing needed is not currently able to detect vaped substances. Previous drug testing procedures were previously deemed satisfactory for detecting known substances.

How will the drug testers detect and eradicate v-med stimulants?

Well, to detect v-meds will be very hard as the time the stimulant stays in the body is very brief; the correct dose can last in an athletes body for a desired period. For example, a football player could vape a dose of v-meds that stays in the body for just 90 minutes. After the match has finished the drug will have been excreted through sweat glands and thus be untraceable. Therefore the player has a physical advantage that is undetectable by current testing means.

What drugs can be vaped to improve performance among sporting superstars? There is a wide range of performance enhancing substances. These have been banned by sports governing bodies, for a full list check here.

E-cigs Safety information

E-cigs safety e-liquid in mouth

E-cigs safety info:

WARNINGS: May contain traces of nuts e-cigs safety. Toxic if swallowed. Very toxic if in contact with skin . Keep locked up and out of the way of children. In case of accident or if you feel unwell seek medical advice immediately.

Above is the standard warning label or allergy advice on one of the most popular electronic smoking brands VIP. I would like to point out several points after the obligatory may contain traces of nuts message. TOXIC if swallowed and VERY TOXIC if it comes in contact with skin! Other safety info instructs the user to wear gloves when re-filling the e-liquid. Also if any liquid spills on to your clothes take them off and wash immediately!

It’s clear that we are not supposed, under any circumstances, to get e-liquid on our skin or to ingest it. Unless it is vaporized by a vaporizer. The question is why are cheap non-recyclable products coming on to the market that are unregulated? The products are unreliable and often leak TOXIC liquid. The answer being quite obvious: profit driven corporations.

How much nicotine does it take to kill?

The amount of nicotine that it takes to kill a human varies between individuals; height, weight and age all play a factor, as does the way the nicotine enters the body. Through fatal incidents and human experimentation, the believed fatal dose is around 30-60 mg. Or roughly the amount contained in 2 cigarettes.

Which causes great concern as poorly manufactured “cheap” products often leak liquid on to the skin. I myself have experienced problems with e-cigs safety. Appollo e-cigs caused blisters on my lips. Sometimes the liquid would come through un-vaporized and go into my mouth. I experienced chest pains also maybe from over use, it is hard to quit tobacco. So ended up using the e-cig a lot.

When the level of nicotine in the blood stream rises to dangerous levels the body goes into toxic shock. This not to be confused with toxic shock syndrome. This can cause a number of symptoms and range from nausea to numb limbs. Nicotine poisoning can occur in a variety of ways. Over consumption of e-liquid is a growing concern. Nicotine poisoning incidents are likely to rise accordingly as the number of new electronic smokers increases.

Regulating e-liquid consumption

Over consumption of e-juice is something that is troubling the regulatory bodies and finding a way to limit an individuals consumption is something at the forefront of their discussions. The FDA and MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency). They are talking about regulating nicotine consumption and this may lead to product changes.

Vaping products are being changed and released before upcoming regulation in 2016. This in an attempt to stay strong in the market and prove they are worthy of a medical licence. They will need a medicinal licence post 2016 in order to produce e-smoking related products.

E-medicines?

e-medicines

Vaporizing e-medicines could be an alternative way to treat anything from minor ailments to cancer. It is still in its early research stages as far as flu and lung cancer treatment goes. Though other medicines have been inhaled in a similar way for years. The asthma pump being an obvious example.

Vaporizing has been around for quite some time now. Although it was only five years ago or so that it revolutionized the smoking industry. Millions of smokers that wanted to quit tobacco have switched to electronic devices. However, little information has been made public regarding the research of vaporizing e-medicines

Inhaling vaporized e-medicines

Atomizing e-medicine to treat emphysema, flu and cancer. This potentially opens up a whole new research area in the pharmaceutical industry. E-medicines are an alternative way of administering drugs and medicines. Vaporizing heats the medicine before ingestion. This allows for reactive components to mix into a new compound for precise effective lung treatment.

Vaped medicine would obviously be inhaled into the lungs. This doesn’t just offer an effective treatment for lung disease though. It could also be used to treat other ailments such as headaches, migraines and rheumatism. The inhaled medicinal cocktail would be absorbed into the blood stream through capillaries in the lungs. Making this a more accurately targeted faster-acting cure or prevention. This compared to orally taken medicines. Can you imagine a vaped paracetamol or atomized pain killers?

Vaporized medicinal cannabis

Medicinal cannabis vaporization is already taking place in the USA as a treatment for some ailments. Cannabis is not the only substance that can be vaped though. There is multitude of potential medicinal vaping possibilities that are sub-dependent on forthcoming regulations. Vaporizing cannabis is becoming very popular. With more and more being sold every year it will be soon be the social norm.

First vaping device

Herbert Gilbert filed a patent for the first ever electronic smoking device in 1963. At this time tobacco smoking was not perceived as a health threat. In fact to the contrary. Cigarettes were so ingrained as the status quo, in the social psyche that Gilbert simply didn’t have the custom. So his product idea remained just that – an idea.

Herbert Gilbert’s first vaporizers 50 years ago has now lead to new brands emerging. Like V2, Blu, VIP, Ego and Socialites electronic cigarettes to name a few. The electric brands have a range of devices like the electronic vape pen, vaping pipe and atomizers. So will we see in the future that these devices are not only being used to feed a nicotine addiction. But also being used to treat disease and illnesses?

E-medicines a reality?

How far are we from seeing cold and flu medicines being vaped? Offering a more targeted, effective treatment compared to orally taken cough syrups and capsules. In the future will leading cough sweet manufacturers like Halls and Strepsils branch out into the e-liquid market? With cough syrup e-liquid?

If the current research continues to prove that electronic smoking offers a healthier alternative than that of smoking tobacco. Then it could very well be the social norm in under ten years. It could be that even a non-smoker vapes medicines. With e-medicines that are vaporized in a controlled dose as and when symptoms occur.

New European regulations that are due to be passed in 2016. Will they continue to allow the sale and distribution of e-cigs, vaporizers and electronic pipes? There’s no doubt there will be a whole range of companies currently operating in different fields, who will embrace e-liquid medicine onto their product lines.
